Tribeca Film Festival
June 5-16, 2024
Tribeca, NYC

Tribeca Film Festival 2024, presented by OKX, is currently taking place until June 16th. In addition to showing diverse narrative, documentary, and animated films, the festival will include events such as De Niro Con, a celebration of 80 years of Robert De Niro featuring conversations with Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Whoopi Goldberg and others; a conversation with activist and actress Jane Fonda about the female voice in collaboration with L’Oréal Paris; and an immerse artwork program at Mercer Labs. Additionally, there are 103 films featured in this year’s film festival, including some highlights below:

How I Faked My Life With AI

How I Faked My Life With AI by Kyle Vorbach is a documentary that explores the detrimental effects of AI. The film follows Vorbach as he creates AI personas that completely change his life. As his personal life begins to crumble, Vorbach is left to face the consequences of his actions.

Rent Free

Directed by Fernando Andrés, Rent Free follows best friends Ben and Jordan as they move to New York City together. A major mishap leaves the two of them without an apartment. With nowhere else to go, Ben and Jordan return to Texas where Jordan’s girlfriend, Anna, takes them in. However, her generosity is short-lived, leaving both Ben and Jordan making a drunken pact to couch surf for a year without paying rent. The pact, however, may be more difficult than the friends initially thought.

Bad Shabbos

Directed by Daniel Robbins, Bad Shabbos follows two couples, Abby and Benjamin, David and Meg, a recent convert to Judaism, as they return home for a Shabbat dinner. An accidental death — or possible murder — threatens to ruin the entire evening. As the night goes on, this family gathering takes a turn for the worse.

BRATS

BRATS by Andrew McCarthy chronicles his experience in the Brat Pack, a group of famous young stars in the ’80s. This documentary follows McCarthy’s journey to reconnect with his peers, such as Emilio Esteves, Rob Lowe and Demi Moore, to reflect on their Hollywood legacies after forty years.

Daddio

Daddio by Christy Hall stars Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn. In Hall’s directorial debut, a girl (Johnson) and her cab driver (Penn) embark on a late-night drive from JFK airport to Midtown Manhattan. The pair start talking, which then turns into a game of two strangers opening up to one another. The two form an unlikely bond: making this chance encounter impact them for the rest of their lives.

ADULT BEST FRIENDS

Directed by Delaney Buffet, ADULT BEST FRIENDS follows Katie (Katie Corwin) worrying about what her best friend, Delaney (Delaney Buffet), will think of her engagement to John (Mason Gooding). Delaney’s opinion matters to Kate, despite Delaney being unambitious. To reconnect and break the news, Katie plans a girls’ trip to keep codependent Delaney at ease.
