Everything old becomes new again. American rock band DOROTHY just released their debut album ROCKISDEAD; but on the contrary, this could mark the beginning of hard rock’s return. Last week, the album entered the Billboard Top New Artists Heatseekers Chart at #1, and the band’s success can only go up from here. Comprised of lead singer Dorothy Martin, guitarist Mark Jackson, bassist Gregg Cash, and drummer Zac Morris, the band was signed by Jay Z‘s label Roc Nation. While there are 11 tracks on the new album, two of the most popular hits seem to be “Raise Hell” and “Wicked Ones.”
Starting next week, the band will be hitting the road with British rock band The Struts for a two-week North American tour that launches July 14th in New Jersey. Not only will the band be touring with The Struts, but the quartet will also touring alongside American rock band Halestorm in October.
Aside from touring, the Los-Angeles based band is set to perform at the Made In America Festival in Philadelphia on September 3rd. The impressive lineup for the festival weekend also includes Rihanna, Coldplay, Grimes, DJ Khaled, Justine Skye, and more.
Dorothy’s raw voice with the addition of the hard rock-style band provides a sound that you can’t help but bang your head to, and the video for the band’s popular single “Raise Hell” couldn’t be more fun. The video takes place on Thanksgiving where the rock band “raises hell” from the kids’ table during the family meal.
