FEMME GOES RETRO WITH NEW ALBUM “DEBUTANTE”

After two years of delivering knockout pop gems to an ever-growing army of bullet girls and fever boys, FEMME has confirmed she will be releasing her long-awaited debut album, Debutante, on April 15th. As composer, producer, director and choreographer, FEMME has eschewed major label interest in order to maintain her self-made musical vision. In The Untitled Magazine’s “Legendary” Issue 7 she revealed the story behind her girl-powered sound:

“Being very happy and major and upbeat is something that always appealed to me. It was something I loved and continue to love. So I guess it was natural that it kind of leaked into the music that I make and when I started doing music out of Femme I wanted to kind of mess around with masculine beats. Especially being a female producer in a male-dominated field, I wanted to kind of take the masculinity of the big hip-hop beats and mix it with flirty, sassy, 60s, girl group, Nancy Sinatra kind of vibe. Not bubblegum, stupid pop… just something intelligent and catchy and infectious.”

Femme sticks to this fierce formula on Debutante. The kaleidoscopic collection of songs is a modern mash-up of sixties girl groups, seventies disco divas, nineties chart icons and bumping bass-fiends. The tracklist includes chart topping tunes, “Fever Boy,” “Gold,” and “S.O.S,” along with new single, “Light Me Up,” which is available March 18th.

FEMME has toured the USA with Untitled cover star, Charli XCX, been featured on tracks by Huxley, been remixed by NZCA Lines and partnered with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich for their critically acclaimed Ultraísta collaboration and album. In March she will make a long awaited return to North America with a handful of dates at SXSW Festival in Austin, TX.
