Entitled Distended, the Fall/Winter collection from Juun J takes classical pieces and reinterprets them in a more exaggerated or modern manner, by altering the seams, creating new lines within the body of the piece, for example. The collection contains several boxy, oversized trenches, coats, and parkas that are beautiful, yet somewhat cartoonish because of the extended shoulders causing the top of the silhouette to slope from neck to elbow. Also, the knit hoods are reminiscent of medieval under-armor. There is something quite militaristic in a non-violent way about these.Colorblocking gives the jackets an almost futuristic feel that transitions perfectly into the printed neoprene tops created through a collaboration with photography team Alex and Felix. These kitsch images of “thirteen queens” are a psychedelic pop that brightened up the show and moved into a much more modern realm, that, for the finale, consisted of full body suits color blocked, again, and now using various grey wool tweeds.
