CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2016 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

The Cannes Film Festival is officially over. After 11 days of movie premieres, red carpet events and champagne fueled gala parties, The Untitled Magazine has the scoop on the highlights at the festival.  From Chopard to De Grisogono, amfAR and Harmonist events, the schedule this year was filled with back-to-back celebrations for those lucky enough to score invitations.

CHOPARD WILD PARTY

Monday May 16th, the jungle themed. “Wild” party hosted by Swiss jewelry brand, Chopard, was full of model and celebrity guests including Kate Moss, Adriana Lima, and Poppy Delevingne. Against a background of waterfall projections and lush plants, guests danced the night away to a live performance by legendary diva Diana Ross and a DJ set by Mark Ronson.

CHOPARD GENTS PARTY

A couple of days before, on May 14th, Chopard hosted another event at Hotel Martinez, in partnership with Annabel’s. Guests enjoyed an exclusive rooftop party with a live DJ and karaoke. Colin and Livia Firth attended the event, along with Oliver Cheshire, Pixie Lott, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Jack Guinnessand, Isabelle Huppert, Mads Mikkelsen, Marion Cotillard, and a DJ set by Mary Charteris.

L’OREAL BLUE OBSESSION PARTY

Also at Hotel Martinez was a celebration of the launch of L’Oreal’s new makeup line. Guests and models alike dressed in head to toe blue attire against the blue neon signs and drank blue colored cocktails. The attendees also celebrated Doutzen Kroes who has been a face of the company for ten years. A cake was presented to Kroes, featuring several shades of lipsticks. Brand spokespeople for the company in attendance included Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Soo Joo Park, Barbara Palvin, Natasha Poly, and Lara Stone as well as “men experts” Lucky Blue Smith and Lewis Hamilton.

DE GRISOGONO PARTY

Luxury jewelry company, De Grisogono hosted their annual event, “Cannes Follies” at the Hotel Du Cap Eden Roc, which featured A-List celebrities all dripping in their largest gems. Kim Kardashian was the center of attention, wearing a silver and nude chain-mail gown completely covered in sparkling stones. She accessorized with diamond teardrop earrings, and a large emerald ring. Eyes were also on Chanel Iman and Bella Hadid as they entered the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc while wearing equally shimmery outfits and dripping in jewels. The main attraction of the night was the unveiling of a 404-carat rough diamond, the largest found in Angola and worth $20 Million. Earth, Wind, & Fire gave a performance that got everyone through the night and into the morning.

THE HARMONIST COCKTAIL PARTY

Monday May 16th, attendees went to Martinez beach for The Harmonist, a new perfume company based out of Paris. The brand features 10 scents created by Givaudan perfumer Guillaume Flavigny. The party was attended by stars such as Kate Hudson, Orlando Bloom, Heidi Klum, Charli XCX and included a performance by hip hop artist Jason Derulo.

“LADY IN WAITING” BOOK LAUNCH

Lady Victoria Hervey, former society editor of The Untitled Magazine, celebrated her new book “Lady In Waiting” aboard the M/Y Fathom yacht on May 18th. Guests including supermodel Angela Lindvall, Nellee Hooper, Vikram Chatwal, Laura Comfort and Untitled’s Indira Cesarine were served canapés and champagne while enjoying the gorgeous day on the Cannes seaside.

KERING & CANNES FILM FESTIVAL OFFICIAL DINNER

Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis were honored for their roles in Thelma and Louise at an event held by Women in Motion, which awards females who have challenged the perception of women in the entertainment industry. Sarandon and Davis were given the award in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the film.

VANITY FAIR PARTY

Stars gathered at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc for the Vanity Fair Party, as stated by the giant orange letters floating in the pool. Celebrities mingled with one another and took photos in a video portrait studio.  The cocktail party and dinner were co-hosted by HBO and the afterparty was co-hosted by Chopard. Leonardo DiCaprio positioned himself in the corner next to the DJ booth and hung out with buds Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton. Kate Hudson, Russell Crowe, Jodie Foster, Kendall Jenner, Sir Mick Jagger, Chloë Sevigny, Peter Dundas, Salma Hayek, Heidi Klum and even Mick Jagger made an appearance.

1 OAK POP UP

Chris Brown gave a performance during the 1 Oak Pop Up Concert along with friend Tyga. The two sang their hit “Ayo” as well as Brown’s songs such as “Back to Sleep” and “Loyal”. Steve Aoki, who was recently featured in The Untitled Magazine, performed earlier in the week, playing hits like “Delirious,” “No Beef” and “Turbulence” to an energetic crowd.

amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

And finally, the most talked about event of the festival, the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala. The gala was hosted by Kevin Spacey, who also served as event chair. Up for auction were exotic vacations, original artwork, spending time with Kevin Spacey, and a week in Leonardo DiCaprio’s Palm Springs home. The disco themed event also featured a fashion show with one of a kind pieces by top designers and models from around the world. Performances were given by Katy Perry who sang her greatest hits, as well as surprise performances by The Village People, Sister Sledge, and The Bluebell Girls.
