This September, Lehmann Maupin will present a collection of new work by Do Ho Suh, entitled Drawings. The two-part show will feature various forms of his work, including his unique “thread” drawings and large-scale rubbings from his previous Rubbing/Loving Project. Originally known for his room-scale installations made of transparent fabric, Do Ho Suh has utilized drawing throughout his career to explore the dynamic relationships among notions of home, physical space, identity, and memory.
The first English language monograph of Suh’s work – with a focus on his drawings – has recently been published and will be launched simultaneously with the exhibition. Suh will be present in the gallery on September 13, 2014 for a book launch. The book traces the progression of his expansive and consistent practice. As an addition to this exhibition, Suh will be presented a major solo exhibition at The Contemporary Austin, which will be on view from September 20, 2014-January 11, 2015.
