In anticipation of the Guggenheim International Gala, the museum’s Young Collector’s Council and Dior hosted a pre-party at the Guggenheim Museum in uptown New York on Wednesday, November 5th. The event celebrated artists Carrie Mae Weems, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene (in memoriam), Günther Uecker and Wang Jianwei, with a special musical performance from English indie group The XX. Amongst the crowd of industry people dancing underneath Otto Piene’s luminous “White Balloon” that hung from the ceiling– actresses, it girls, rappers, and designers — included Dior’s muse and French actress Marion Cotillard, who stuck by Dior’s creative director Raf Simons all evening.
The Guggenheim International Gala is one of New York City’s signature benefits and the museum’s prominent annual fundraising event. It took place on Thursday, November 6th, 2014.
