JAN TAMINIAU – PARIS F/W 2012 INTERVIEW BY INDIRA CESARINE

JAN TAMINIAU – PARIS F/W 2012 INTERVIEWED BY INDIRA CESARINE

Dutch designer Jan Taminiau’s Haute Couture 2012 collection, Tarnished Beauty, mixes bold, warrior-like elements, with soft feminine construction.  The collection was designed to, “elevate women,” showing delicate pleated chiffons, in aqua and light tangerine, over silver sequined slips that gave the illusion of body armor.  The gowns combined with the metal helmets and visors created an image of a modern, warrior woman who is beautiful but fearsome.  The evening gowns were paired with sequin and stud embellished super-high platforms, reminiscent of McQueen’s heel-less heels.
