Olly Alexander has launched new single “Dizzy”, available on Interscope Records, alongside a visually stunning music video directed by Colin Solal Cardo. The release of “Dizzy” also marks the UK’s official entry submission for this year’s revolutionary Eurovision Song Contest, taking place in Malmö, Sweden on May 11.

As stated in the press release, “”Dizzy” is that intoxicating rush you feel with someone new; its heightened emotions and sense of pop drama as at home on the dance floor as it is the Eurovision world-stage.” Being Olly’s first solo single, the “Dizzy” video explodes with its kaleidoscope set pieces, blurring the line between fantasy and reality. The track’s explosion of lust and longing all culminate into a head-spinning performance from Olly. It’s a celebratory, universal act of individual expression of queer desire.

“The song is about feeling such an intense swell of emotion for someone they totally turn your world upside down and inside out…” Olly says when asked to introduce the single, written by both Alexander and seminal electronic producer Danny L. Harle. Olly also mentions being inspired by 80s artists like Stock Aitken and Waterman, Erasure, Adamski, and Pet Shop Boys. With this release, the artist also mentions the undulating arpeggios, lilting harmonies, and counter rhythms in the backing vocals, wanting to highlight the feeling of dizziness with the production.

As stated by Olly’s team, the singer, actor, and fashion icon has scored 2 #1 UK albums, 10 UK Top 40 singles and was recently awarded the BRIT Billion Award. With Years & Years turning into a solo project and beginning a new creative chapter with “Dizzy”, Olly has clearly become a once-in-a-generation voice.

With a variety of achievements under his belt, Olly Alexander’s dynamic single will definitively invite a new era for the UK singer. “Dizzy” out now!
