Polaroid Eyewear held its 75th anniversary celebration at The Museum of Modern Art on December 11. To commemorate the momentous occasion the eyeglass brand showcased a preview of their new “Polaroid Plus Sunglasses” collection. Dancing to the tune of New York based DJ trio “The Misshapes,” guests sampled the latest in eyewear polarization and glare resistance technology.
MoMA incorporated a collection of their own including an original pair of 1946 Polaroid sunglasses donated by Edgar Kaufmann Jr., an heir to a renowned family home designed by architectural artist Frank Lloyd Wright. Other artifacts chosen from contemporary artist, Trisha Donnelly’s display was also presented. Donnelly’s exhibit titled, Artist Choice will remain featured at MoMA until April 8, 2013.
The new Polaroid Plus collection releasing this spring 2013 is redesigned for the next generation of minimalists looking for a sleek urban edge. Produced by the Safilo Group, this collection will be available in 10 styles.
