Time Magazine announced a group of women and men—including #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and actors Rose McGowan and Terry Crews—who have spoken out about sexual harassment and assault, dubbed “The Silence Breakers,” as its Person Of The Year 2017.

The cover image features Taylor Swift, Ashley Judd and Susan Fowler, public figures who have contributed to the firestorm of conversation surrounding rape culture and sexual misconduct in their respective industries, alongside Isabel Pascual, a woman from Mexico who works picking strawberries, and Adama Iwu, a corporate lobbyist in Sacramento. The issue’s list of Silence Breakers includes numerous everyday individuals, likely unknown to the public until now, who have bravely spoken out about sexual misconduct and its affect on them.

Time editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal explained the magazine’s choice: “The galvanizing actions of the women on our cover … along with those of hundreds of others, and of many men as well, have unleashed one of the highest-velocity shifts in our culture since the 1960s.” Read the cover story HERE.
